| Fetcham Community InformationBordering Leatherhead, on the western edge, is the village
of Fetcham separated from Leatherhead by the Mill Pond springs
and associated nature reserve, frequented by many species
of birds including swans.
The centre of the village offers a variety of shops, with
associated free car parking, that meet the day to day demands
of the 8,000 population. Food and drink is catered for by
The Bell Inn and a variety of restaurants meeting the tastes
for Indian, Chinese, Italian, Surrey Spice, Fish and Chips,
plus Watson's Bakery coffee shop.
The Fetcham Conservation Area includes the impressive 18th
century mansion of Fetcham Park House immediately adjacent
to the 1,000 year old Parish Church of St Mary. The Well
House, The Dower House and Ballands Hall are three of a
cluster of old buildings in the area. Two popular village
schools (Fetcham Infants and Oakfield) offer places for
children up to 11 years of age. There are four halls for
public hire and three churches in addition to the parish
church.
Part of Norbury Park is in the Parish and Bocketts Farm,
within the Park, offers unique recreation for children and
adults. The western approach is through National Trust woodland
and the River Mole, between Common Meadow and Slyfield Manor,
completes the natural assets.
Fetcham is an active and vibrant community supporting a
strong Residents Association, Womens Institute, Wives Group,
Scouts and Guides and affiliated church groups. |
