Around The Town - Galleries

Leatherhead and the surrounding areas offer many distinctive galleries and artist studios for visitors to purchase art works or simply to browse.

Not to be missed is the Fire & Iron Gallery, which specialises in metalwork and jewellery by leading local, national and international makers. Permanent displays and special exhibitions vary from intricate pieces of jewellery to huge steel animals created by artists working directly with metals or inspired by metals as a theme.

The Studio Art House displays Twentieth Century and contemporary fine art in the friendly and informal atmosphere of a late Victorian house just two minutes walk from Leatherhead town centre. The gallery holds regular exhibitions giving the public the opportunity to view their interesting range of work from oil paintings to wood engravings created in the last century or in the present day.

The Theatre in Church Street also has gallery space in the foyer and mezzanine floor and often displays work by local artists and photographers.

In June, artists from all over Surrey throw open their doors to the public for the annual Surrey Artists Open Studios week. Visitors can chat to the artists and craftspeople, see live demonstrations and buy an original piece of art.
